Question by Joe: How do I contact a seller on Amazon about a package that wasn’t forwarded to me, thus not delivered?
A few weeks ago, I purchased something “used” off Amazon from a shop called (I think) Warehouse Direct. Payment went through and everything just fine, and it’s been over two weeks since my order now, so I checked to see if I could track it.
I could, and it was delivered on the 25th of February. To my old address.
Now, this is due to my own oversight; I must not have bothered to change my Amazon address (in fact, I clearly did NOT), but that’s okay – I set up address forwarding, anyhow. All set, right?
NOPE.
The package was delivered and not forwarded to me at all. I called the apartment complex office where I used to live and nothing was delivered to them, so my package was delivered to the new tenants of my old apartment. The office contacted them (yesterday morning) to see if it was delivered, but I haven’t heard anything since. They suggested that they might have just sent the package back.
If they sent the package back, okay. Or not. I still don’t know what to do. I jumped on Amazon to see if I could find a way to contact the seller, and there isn’t (at least, not that I can see). What should I do?

I hope that the office calls you back with a tenant response one way or another.
How long ago did you move?
(mail forwarding doesn’t last forever, only for 12 months, I think.)
(I get the impression that you moved more recently than a year ago though.)
And only the US Postal Service would do the forwarding. Other courier companies will not be aware of the change of address. They just go by what was received as the address of the parcel. So if the courier wasn’t USPS, then the forwarding wouldn’t have been possible.
What sort of building was your old apartment complex? I’m just asking because I recently moved from a building that had some, shall we say, ‘shady’ characters. What I mean is that there were a lot of drug users in that building. If a parcel got left in the lobby or mis-delivered, the parcel would be stolen or whoever got it would deny that they got it. Sucks, but that’s the downtown area where I lived. (I actually still live in downtown Seattle, but in a much better building now. No drug use that I’ve seen … and I have seen parcels in the lobby … no one steals them. It’s kinda neat to actually be able to trust your neighbors. 🙂
There may not be any recourse to this if you find that the parcel was not sent back.
I can’t see that it is the seller’s responsibility or the courier’s fault.
However, some vendors can be pretty nice about giving refunds in such cases, because they don’t want negative reviews. Then again, in this case, the vendor appears to have done nothing wrong.
Perhaps look again on Amazon for a way to contact the vendor. Also, once you figure out who the vendor was, look them up on Google and try to find an e-mail address and then send them a polite note explaining the situation and asking for either a refund or a replacement item.
